Adobe has released an update to version 16 of Flash Player and the first official release of the Integrated Runtime version 16. With Adobe Flash Player it is possible to play Flash content, mainly swf files, on the computer. Popular video sites such as YouTube and Google Video, among others, offer their visitors the opportunity to play videos with the stand-alone Flash Player. Adobe AIR provides a cross platform environment for developing and playing rich internet applications. The release notes for this release are as follows:

In today’s scheduled release we’ve updated Flash Player with important bug fixes and security updates. In addition, today’s release marks the official launch of AIR 16! We’re very proud to announce that AIR 16 includes iOS 64-bit support along with additional new features and important bug fixes. We recommend developers take a moment to review the New Features, Fixed and Known Issues sections for full details.

Current Flash Player users that have enrolled in the “Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)” update mechanism will automatically receive this release within 24 hours. Users that have selected “Notify me to install updates” will receive an update notification dialog within 7 days from today. Please note that Windows users will need to restart their system or log out and in to activate the update notification dialog.
