ACDSee has long been the most popular program for viewing and managing digital photo collections. However, with the arrival of free and powerful alternatives such as FastStone Image Viewer, XnView and IrfanView, this has changed. ACD Systems will try to regain some of the lost market share by releasing version 9.0 of ACDSee. Some of the new features in version 9.0 include Quick View, which opens photos very quickly, easier removal of the red-eye effect, the ability to save private photos in places where others cannot access, and some ways to organize it and make photo cataloging easier.
