Download 7-Zip 9.01 alpha
The developers of 7-Zip have released two new alpha versions of their eponymous archiver in quick succession. The remarkable leap in version number is explained by the fact that development of the current 4.xx series started in 2004 and is now returning to that version number principle. Available under the gpl license, 7-Zip can handle a variety of compression formats, including zip, cab, rar, arj, lzh, chm, gzip, bzip2, z, tar, cpio, rpm, deb, and of course the self-developed 7z. Furthermore, the software is capable of opening iso files and Nsis installation packages. Below is what has changed since version 4.66:

- A memory leak in LZMA2 code was fixed.
- Some bugs were fixed.
