Last Friday’s beta release of 7-Zip didn’t always work well with BZip2 files, so a successor was hastily released. This open source archiver can handle the compression formats zip, cab, rar, arj, lzh, chm, gzip, bzip2, z, tar, cpio, rpm, deb and of course the self-developed 7z. In addition, it is also able to open ISO files and NSIS installation packages. Since version 4.31, there are separate versions for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows. Version 4.47 beta only fixes the BZip2 issue:
