Download 7-Zip 4.43 beta

The developers behind the archive utility 7-Zip have released a new beta release. This open source program can handle the compression formats zip, cab, rar, arj, lzh, chm, gzip, bzip2, z, tar, cpio, rpm, deb, the self-developed 7z and nowadays also ISO files and NSIS installation packages. Since version 4.31 there are separate versions for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows. The changelog for this release shows the following changes:

• 7-Zip now can use multi-threading mode for compressing to .ZIP archives.
• ZIP format supporting was improved.
• 7-Zip now supports WinZip-compatible AES-256 encryption for .ZIP archives.
• New context menu items for .ZIP archives creating.
• 7-Zip now uses order list (list of extensions) for files sorting for compressing to .7z archives. It can slightly increase compression ratio in some cases.
• 7-Zip now restores modification time of folders during .7z archives extracting.
• Some bugs were fixed.
• New localizations: Armenian, Marathi.
