Software Update 3.0 for PlayStation 4 Coming Wednesday
The 3.0 update for the PlayStation 4 system software will be released tomorrow by Sony. The update adds streaming via YouTube Gaming, sharing clips via Twitter and Share Play & Broadcast with friends, among other things.
Sony reports expanding the number of social functions of the PlayStation 4. For example, there will soon be Communities, which are reminiscent of the same functionality with Steam. In addition, there will be Events as official streams that players can pre-register for and have their consoles booted to automatically. Furthermore, PlayStation Plus will have its own section on Wednesday where players can easily see which games the subscription has to offer at that time. In addition, PS Plus subscribers get a total of 10GB of cloud storage for their save games.
Share Play & Broadcast are intended for two users who want to share the view back and forth. With Share Play, one player can play the other’s game remotely, while the other is watching. With Broadcast it works the other way around: the owner of the game plays, and the other watches from a distance, on his own PlayStation. In addition, support for PNG screenshots is added, and there is a section called Live from PlayStation, where the most popular broadcasts, clips and screenshots are collected. Sony has listed all the changes and additions that will be implemented tomorrow on the PlayStation Blog.
