Download µTorrent 1.6.1 beta build 475

Ludvig Strigeus released a new version of µTorrent yesterday. It concerns version 1.6.1 beta build 475 and the biggest innovation is that the program can now be controlled from a remote computer via a web interface. For example, current torrents can be monitored and new ones added. This feature has been given the name WebUI and has its own version number, namely 0.300. How the WebUI works exactly is explained below:

How to use the WebUI

• Enable the WebUI in µTorrent (Preferences (CTRL + P) -> Advanced -> WebUI)
• Open up a browser and use the following URL format
• If the browser does not support Username:Password then use the following URL format
• If the webui gets stuck on the ‘Loading…’ page, try to request and then reload.

known issues

• Opera might display the tables (torrents and files) incorrectly.
• Trackers cannot be changed at the present time.
• IE7 will display the columns incorrectly after a resize. A refresh is required to fix it.
• Firefox does not display a caret (vertical bar) in the textboxes.
• Not all information is known in the general tab yet.
• The guest account cannot be used at the moment.
• The “Remaining” column might not be showing the correct value.
• Opera does not allow its context menu to be disabled; so, when right-clicking on a torrent press your Esc key to hide Opera’s context menu.
