SNK Unveils Neo Geo Mini Retro Console With 3.5″ LCD And 40 Arcade Games

SNK has shown the Neo Geo Mini, a compact retro console that allows gamers to play forty arcade games. The console has its own LCD and buttons, but can also be connected to a screen and controllers.

The Neo Geo Mini indeed turns out to be a mini version of the Neo Geo MVS arcade cabinet, as previously rumored. The small retro console has a 3.5″ LCD, dimensions of 135x108x162mm and a weight of 600 grams. There is a single joystick and four buttons. The console can be connected to an external screen via HDMI and there are connections for two external controllers, in addition to an audio output.It is striking that the Japanese version does have colored buttons, just like the original, but the international version does not.

The Neo Geo Mini has forty arcade games on board and expansion does not seem possible. SNK does not disclose which titles it concerns, but the images show that at least games from the King of Fighters and Metal Slug series are included and that Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers is also present. The price is not yet announced by SNK and it is also not clear when the console will appear.

The Japanese SNK releases the model in honor of its fortieth anniversary. In the 1990s, SNK released the Neo Geo Advanced Entertainment System home and rental console and the Neo Geo Multi Video System arcade cabinet.
