Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 vs MediaTek Dimensity 9000: high-end socs side by side

Now that Qualcomm and MediaTek have both presented their high-end socs for next year’s phones, we can put them side by side. How do the socs differ from each other and on what points do they correspond?

With the announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Qualcomm has presented the soc that will probably be in many high-end phones next year. MediaTek presented the Dimensity 9000 a few weeks ago. Qualcomm and MediaTek are the two largest independent players in the smartphone socs market. In this context, independent means that the designer of the socs does not release his own smartphones on a large scale, but that the chip designer supplies them to smartphone makers who then integrate them into devices.
