Snapchat releases tool to use cool sensor iPhone 12 Pro
Snap has released Lens Studio 3.2, the first version of the Lens software for Snapchat that can use the cool sensor in iPhone 12 Pro phones and iPad Pro earlier this year.
The cool sensor allows the software to determine the meaning and geometry of surfaces, says Snapchat. This allows a Lens in Snapchat to interact with objects in the phone’s camera image, such as tables and walls.
Snap shows examples of Lens software, where plants can grow on walls and tables and objects can disappear behind other objects. Lens is an AR application that runs within Snapchat and developers can use Lens Studio to create it.
A Lens made with Lens Studio 3.2 is the first to use the cool sensor in the iPhone 12 Pro models, which Apple presented on Tuesday. Apple designates this itself as a LiDAR sensor. Developers can also access Snapchat on the iPad Pro from earlier this year, which also has a cool sensor.
