Snapchat gets multiplayer games
Snapchat will integrate Snap Games, games they can play directly with other users. The company behind the chat client also announced that it would bring advertisements and Stories to other services.
The Snap Games can be opened from the chat bar, without the need for installation. Users see which contacts they are playing with and can communicate via messages and voice chats. Initially, there will be six games, including Bitmoji Party with minigames, Zynga’s battle royale game Tiny Royale and Zeptolabs’ racing game CATS Drift Race.
Also new is Snapchat Ad Kit, with which Snapchat is expanding its advertising network to other services. This should be done later this year. Developers can integrate an SDK into their app, after which advertisements are shown via the Snapchat network. The developers get a share of the revenue, but it is not known how much.
Snapchat also announced at its Snap Partner Summit in Los Angeles that Stories can be integrated into third-party apps. Houseparty and Tinder, among others, will do this, after which users can use Snapchat camera for Stories in those apps. Finally, Snapchat partners with third parties for its Scan feature. For example, users can scan math problems with their camera to have them solved by Photomath or show related gifs with images via Giphy.
