Snapchat appropriates use of photos in new terms
Snapchat posted new terms and conditions for using its service online last week. It states, among other things, that photos and other content can be used by Snapchat for various purposes.
There are new passages to be found in the terms of use of Snapchat and these have already been put online by the company behind the service. For example, The Next Web discovered that photos sent with Snapchat must be licensed and can be used for a variety of purposes. Snapchat does state that this license is only used to improve its own services.
The new agreement makes it possible for Snapchat, among other things, to use photos, whether or not in modified form, for marketing purposes. The same applies to the name and voice of the user. It is unclear whether, and to what extent, this is already happening.
The new terms and conditions were launched at the same time as a number of new features for the chat service. For example, new filters for video have been released and the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus can use 3D Touch.
