The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth, a smartphone game from Electronics Arts, will be available on May 10. It was already known that this free-to-play game was in development, but a release date was previously unknown. A short trailer has also been released.

The Lord of the Rings: Heroes Of Middle-earth will be released for both Android and iOS; Android players can already Register. The trailer shows short footage of the combat, the in-game menus and the interface. It is a turn-based strategy game with RPG elements in which players can assemble a team of heroes, including Gandalf, Aragorn, and Frodo, and send them to battle against Sauron’s legions.

The game has a story mode, but also a pvp mode. EA previously called the game a collectable role-playing game and a “strategic, socially competitive experience.” Players can equip the characters with a variety of skills and equipment that can be obtained as rewards, as well as through in-app purchases.

The game is made by Capital Games. This EA studio previously released the mobile game Star Wars: Galaxy Of Heroes. That too is a free-to-play game with turn-based combat and RPG elements. That game has been available for iOS and Android since late 2015 and reached according to Sensor Tower in 2019 the limit of one billion dollars in turnover.

To create The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth, EA has partnered with Middle-Earth Enterprises, which owns the worldwide rights to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by author JRR Tolkien. Middle-Earth Enterprises is part of the Embracer Group, a Swedish investment company that owns many game companies. In addition to Heroes of Middle-earth, Embracer also has other Lord of the Rings games in development, such as Gollum and Return to Moria.
