Smartphone brand Realme starts showing ads in system apps
Smartphone brand Realme has started showing ads in various system apps. The step is necessary to build a ‘healthy and sustainable revenue model’ for the brand. The ads can be turned off.
The ads will appear in phones running ColorOS 6 and above, Realme says. ColorOS is Oppo’s Android release, but it is unknown whether that brand also has or will put ads in the software. For the time being, the ads will appear in two places: in Phone Manager, and on the page that users see after installing a new app.
Disabling the ads is done through the settings, where it is found under ‘recommendations’ or ‘recommendations’. The ads should provide another source of income for Realme. The brand is not the first or only one to have ads in the Android release. The best known is Xiaomi, which has ads in Miui.
