Smartphone Amazon has control via device movements
Amazon’s upcoming smartphone wouldn’t rely on traditional touchscreen controls, but users will have to operate it primarily via tilting the entire phone. That reports a rumor site based on ‘sources’.
For example, the smartphone would show information from IMDB in Amazon’s own download store with videos if the user tilts the phone, BGR reports. To do this, the phone uses the accelerometer in the device and input from the front cameras that track the position of the user’s head.
In many apps, the software would also display buttons without labels, after which labels are added with a tilt movement with information about what the button does. The software would not have a button with options, such as the menu button and Action Bar in Android. When tilted, a panel would slide across the screen with options. Users can also scroll by tilting the phone. Amazon forked Android for its tablets and it is obvious that this software is again based on Android. The smartphone would also rely heavily on 3D effects.
Amazon would like to present the smartphone this spring, says BGR, which relies on “several reliable sources” and previously published photos of the device. It is unclear exactly what the software will look like; the site has no images of it.
