Acer has presented two new smartphones. The Liquid Z4 is a budget model for under 100 euros with a 4 “screen and 5-megapixel camera, the more expensive Liquid E3 is one of the few phones that has a front camera with flash.

The front camera has a maximum resolution of two megapixels and an LED flash for “better selfies in the dark,” Acer says. To launch the camera, the user can touch a touchpad on the back of the device to launch the camera app without having to turn on the screen. The rear camera has a resolution of 13 megapixels.

The phone has a 4.7″ screen with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels and the device runs on Android 4.2, with Acer promising an update to Android 4.4 later this year. The processor has a maximum clock speed of 1.2GHz and is a quad-core, Acer does not disclose which one that is. The manufacturer previously used socs from, for example, MediaTek. The MT6589 from that company meets the description of Acer and fits in the price range. That soc has four Cortex A7 processor cores at 1.2 GHz and a PowerVR SGX544 GPU.

Acer’s cheaper model is called Z4 and has a 4″ screen with an expected resolution of 800×480 pixels. The phone runs on an undisclosed dual-core processor with a maximum clock speed of 1.3GHz and has a 5-megapixel camera. Both devices have a front facing speaker.
