Slimbook laptop with Linux gets Core i3-1005G1 and starting price of 499 euros

Spanish manufacturer Grupo Odín has announced a new Linux laptop in its Slimbook line. The company advertises the Slimbook Essential as ultrabooks with Linux, with a starting price of 499 euros.

The Slimbook Essential 14 and 15 are, as the names indicate, laptops with 14 “and 15.6” screens respectively. Both have a matte screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The housing is made of aluminum and has a thickness of less than 20mm. The 14 “laptop has a white backlit keyboard, the 15.6” variant has an RGB backlight.

The cheapest version of the Essential 14 contains an Intel Core i3-1005G1, 8GB ram and a 250GB NVME SSD. The price of this model is 499 euros. The Essential 15 is not much more expensive with a starting price of 549 euros. For that amount, buyers get a model with Intel Core i3-10110 and also 8GB and SSD of 250GB. Grupo Odín offers the possibility to adapt various parts for an additional cost.

The Slimbooks are available with various Linux distributions at no extra cost. At an additional cost, the maker equips it with Windows 10 or a dual boot option with Windows 10. Grupo Odín does not make the laptops itself. This kind of manufacturer uses so-called build-to-order models from, for example, Clevo.
