Slightly Mad Studios shows first images of Mad Box
A week after the announcement of the Mad Box, developer Slightly Mad Studios has shown the first images of the new console. Ian Bell, head of the studio, shows three different designs on Twitter.
After Slightly Mad Studios announced the Mad Box a week ago, director Ian Bell answered some questions about the console on Twitter. In the stream tweets from Bell, he showed, among other things, three different designs of the console, one bold and two more traditional designs. In this way, the director wants to gauge how people react to the design.
Bell also lets go that the console will have a motherboard designed by itself and that the studio has written its own operating system and engine that can be used by other developers for free. The engine should make it easy to export games in formats suitable for Xbox, PlayStation, Mad Box and PC. Apparently there is a difference between the latter two forms.
The specifications of the Mad Box are not yet known. Last week Bell indicated that he is in consultation with various manufacturers. The goal is for the console to be able to display games at a resolution of 4k at 60fps and virtual reality at 120fps. Bell wants to deliver a first group of 5000 units within a year to serve as test units. It is not yet known what the console will cost.
