Skype is working on a feature to blur background in video chats
The latest preview version of Skype Desktop includes a new feature to blur the background during video chats. The capability, intended to ensure user privacy, is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
MSPoweruser discovered the new capability in version 8.37.76 of the Skype Insider Preview build. The function can be activated in two ways: with a right-click on your own video image or via the new settings menu that appears on the screen as soon as you hover the cursor over the camera button.
The Blur feature provides users with more privacy by masking what is happening in the background, but also comes in handy in busy environments that may distract from the conversation. Whether the feature will make it to the final version of Skype Desktop and when it will be released is not yet known.
