Open source app developer Simple Mobile Tools has been bought by the Israeli ZipoApps, known for advertising-laden apps. There will be a fork of Simple’s apps, which according to the developer have more than 70 million downloads in total.

The developer confirms in a discussion the sale of his company to ZipoApps. Tibbi, as the developer’s nickname goes, does not say why the sale was necessary. The email address for support in the apps has already been changed to that of ZipoApps, so it seems that more changes will be coming to the apps soon.

Because the apps are open source, a fork has been created. Developer Naveen Singh, who was already involved in the project, has already created a fork under the name Fossify. It contains, among other things, the code for the Gallery, Dialer, Calendar and Music Player. Foss is an abbreviation of Free and Open Source Software.
