Signify introduces colored Play and Signe lamps in Hue range
Philips Lighting, which now operates under the name Signify, has announced new lamps under the names Play and Signe. These narrow elongated lamps can, for example, be synchronized with a TV or PC.
According to Signify, the lamps are intended to provide indirect light, for example by pointing them at a wall. It states that the small Play lamps, three of which can be linked together using one socket, can be placed behind a TV, for example. This can then be used to achieve a kind of Ambilight effect.
Synchronizing with the colors on the screen is possible with the previously announced Entertainment API, which can also be used for synchronization with music, for example. The lamps, which Signify refers to as light bars, can be upright or lying down and can be further personalized by linking them to the Bridge.
The Signe lamps are longer than the Play ones and are intended to be placed upright. Signify again cites the example of placement next to a TV here. According to the company, the new additions to the Hue range can be pre-ordered in select countries from Monday, after which they should be available by mid-October.
The Play lamps cost 69.90 euros for a single model and 129.95 euros for a pack of two copies. For the Signe lamps, a smaller model, for example for on the table, has a price of 169.99 euros, while a larger model costs 269.99 euros. Signify does not mention sizes, but has published some images.
