Signal introduces thread feature for Android app

Signal is introducing a new ‘thread’ feature where users can see all previous replies to a specific post in one list. The new feature is currently only available for the Android version of the chat service.

Users could already respond to previous messages in Signal, such as in WhatsApp and iMessage. On the other hand, this can become confusing if, for example, several direct responses are given to different messages in a group conversation. Of the new feature In Android, Signal users can click the text bubble next to a message when it has had multiple direct replies. Then a thread opens with only the relevant messages from that ‘sub-conversation’.

By the way, it is not possible to post a new reply to the original message from this thread overview emphasizes Android Police. For this purpose, the user must respond to the original message for the time being. It’s not clear if this feature will come to Signal at a later date. The chat service also does not announce whether and when the thread function will be transferred to the iPhone and Windows version of Signal.

Update, 21.03: The message incorrectly stated that users still had to search for thread source messages themselves. This is not right; one can go directly to the original message via the thread to reply to the message outside the thread screen.
