Sierra releases classics on Steam
Sierra Entertainment has put a total of seventeen classics on the Steam store. The games have not been reworked into polished versions, which means that both the ega and vga color spectrum can be enjoyed while playing the games.
The collection features many familiar faces, including Police Quest 1 through 4, Quest for Glory 1 through 5, and Gabriel Knight 1, 2, and 3. The latest title in the collection is Caesar IV from 2006.
The games from the collection cannot be ordered as a whole in one go, but only available individually or per own collection. The oldest game is Police Quest: Pursuit of the Death Angel from 1987 and is an adventure game where players control the main character via the arrow keys and commands must be entered via a text field. Later games use the mouse for that.
In the past, many of the games came out not only for MS-DOS or Windows, but also for other now more exotic systems such as Amiga, Atari ST, Apple II, IIGS, Macintosh, and System 7. Current versions are only available through Steam. playable on Windows, although a large part will also run via DOSBox on other operating systems.
