Side scroller Mighty No. 9 will be out at the end of June
The game Mighty No. 9 by Kejji Inafune will be released June 21, 2016 in North America and Asia. On June 24, the rest of the world can enjoy the long-delayed sidescroller. The versions for the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS will follow later.
Keiji Inafune raised more than four million dollars for the game in 2013 via PayPal and Kickstarter to develop the sidescroller. The game was then dubbed the “spiritual successor” to Mega Man and was given the working title Mighty No. 9 and was originally set to be released in April 2015.
In January this year, the publisher announced that the game’s third-delayed release in February would not be met due to bugs in the multiplayer versions of the game. Keiji Inafune attributed the problems to the matchmaking system, mainly due to the large number of platforms the game supports. Also, the used engine was no longer maintained, making it more difficult to adjust the network code.
The game is now in its final testing phase, the developer writes on the news section of the Mighty No. 9 site, marking the game as ‘gold’ now. The game comes out via Steam on Windows, OS X, Linux, and SteamOS. In addition, the game is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U. The status of the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions is unknown.
Depending on the platform, Mighty No. 9 between 19.99 and 30.99 euros.
