Developer Ys Net and publisher Deep Silver have announced that Shenmue III will be postponed again. The game will not be released in the second half of this year, but somewhere in 2019. The extra time is needed to improve the game.

Due to the postponement the game also comes out ‘in the best possible period’, ] reports the developer on the Kickstarter page. Presumably the developer and publisher want to release the game in a period when there are no or fewer other releases that compete with the game.
When the game comes out in 2019 is not yet clear. According to the original plans, Shenmue III had to come out in 2017, but in that year the game was postponed for a year . For the development of the game, over 6.7 million dollars was collected via Kickstarter.
Shenmue III is made by the studio of Yu Suzuki, the developer who came up with the series. He got the freedom from Sega to make a new part. Sega still holds the rights to the series and recently announced that this year remasters of Shenmue I and II will come out.
The first game in the Shenmue series was released in Europe at the end of 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast. At that time it was one of the first open world games.
