Sharp unveils UD20 series UHDTVs
Sharp has announced its first UHDTVs for the European market at the IFA fair. The UD20 devices, with screen diagonals of 60″ and 70″, would have a wider color spectrum than competing UHDTVs.
The UD20 TVs use Sharp’s Rich Color Display picture technology. This technique, in which the backlight system has been improved, promises a wider color spectrum. Sharp states that its UHDTV offers a 23 percent wider spectrum than regular televisions. The super high resolution image engine should take care of upscaling video to 4k resolutions.
Sharp has integrated Yahama AudioEngine technology in the UD20 devices, which should improve the audio reproduction. The manufacturer also reports that the televisions are THX certified.
The devices have a thin edge of 10 mm. The UHDTVs also offer support for Miracast and DLNA. The televisions also have four HDMI 2.0 inputs. The Sharp LC-60UD20EN and LC-70UD20EN are available in stores this month with suggested retail prices of 3299 and 4999 euros respectively.
