Sharp unveils smartphone with 120Hz screen with two notches
Sharp has announced the existence of the Aquos R3. The smartphone has a 120Hz screen with support for Dolby Vision. The screen has a notch on both the top and the bottom.
The notch at the top is for the 16-megapixel camera, the one at the bottom for the physical home button with fingerprint scanner. It is not the first Sharp smartphone with two notches: last year’s Aquos R2 Compact already has that. That device has a 5.2 “screen and the Aquos R3 is a bit bigger with its 6.2” screen. .
The resolution of the screen is 3120×1440 pixels and the maximum refresh rate is 120Hz. just like the screens of many recent ‘game smartphones’. The Aquos R3 also has a Snapdragon 855, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage memory. The battery capacity is 3200mAh and the device supports wireless fast charging based on the Qi standard.
There are two cameras on the back, one with a 12.2-megapixel sensor and a wide-angle camera with a 20-megapixel sensor. In addition to the HDR standard Dolby Vision, the device supports Dolby Atmos and there is stereo reproduction of audio. Whether the Japanese company will release the Aquos R3 in Europe is unclear. That was not the case with the R2 Compact, but Sharp does release the Aquos B10, C10 and D10 here. However, those are budget devices.
