Sharp shows dock that turns phone to user on incoming call

Sharp has shown a dock for its new smartphone that automatically turns to the user when a phone call comes in or an alarm goes off. That way, the phone is always turned in the right direction when in use, the manufacturer argues.

The technology works because the dock searches for a face in the picture via the front camera of the phone and if it has found a face, it remains in that position, according to the product page of the Aquos R smartphone from Sharp.

The manufacturer has disclosed few details of the dock. Sharp presented the smartphone on Thursday for release in Japan. The device with 5.3″ LCD with 2560×1440 pixels and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835-soc has, among other things, a new digital assistant that the Japanese manufacturer has developed itself. Sharp almost only releases its devices in Japan and many of those models do not work or not entirely on European mobile networks.
