Sharp releases smartphone with 120Hz screen and two notches in the Benelux

Sharp releases its top model in the Aquos series of smartphones, the R3, in the Benelux. The device was already announced in May, but at the time it was still unclear whether the phone would be released in Europe. The R3 will be available from mid-September for 729 euros.

The Aquos R3 has a 6.2″ screen with a resolution of 3120×1440 pixels. This compares to an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The screen also has a refresh rate of 120Hz and support for Dolby Vision HDR. the screen has a notch on both the top and bottom.The notch at the top houses a front camera with a resolution of 16 megapixels, while the bottom has a home button with fingerprint scanner. The R3 is not the first phone with two notches. The Sharp R2 Compact also includes this, but the R2 was never released in Europe.

In addition, the R3 contains the Snapdragon 855 processor and the device has 6GB of RAM. The R3 has 128GB of internal storage that can be expanded by up to 512GB with a micro-SD card. The R3 has a battery capacity of 3200mAh and supports fast charging technology via USB-C and wireless charging. The back of the device contains two cameras, a 12.2-megapixel camera and a wide-angle sensor with a resolution of 20 megapixels.
