Sharp presents 4k screen of 5.5″ for smartphones
Sharp has announced a 4k display for smartphones. The display, with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels, has a diagonal of just under 5.5″. It is the first announced 4k display for smartphones.
The highest resolution on a smartphone with a 16:9 ratio that has appeared so far is 2560×1440 pixels, the resolution of the Galaxy S6 and LG G3, among others. The Meizu MX4 Pro has a resolution that is slightly higher, 2560×1536 pixels. The announcement of the 4k display took place at CITE 2015, a Chinese technology fair that took place over the past weekend. The Japanese site K-Tai was the first to report on the announcement.
The screen has 806 pixels per inch, bringing the diagonal to 5.47″. This is the highest pixel density of a screen to date. According to the manufacturer, the screen has an RGB layout and will be in mass production from 2016 onwards. It is therefore obvious that the first smartphones with 4k screens from Sharp will appear from next year.
