Provider Solcon has been having problems nationwide on part of the fiber optic network since Wednesday morning. Some customers suffer from packet loss and loss of connections as a result. The provider investigates the problems together with the supplier.

The problems have been going on since 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Customers experience packet loss of up to 40 percent, making the internet virtually unusable according to some customers. The outage affects the internet, TV and e-mail.

As of Wednesday, Solcon is already investigating the problem, together with its fiber optic supplier. Despite several updates to the outage page since Wednesday, the companies don’t seem to be getting the issues under control and are not reporting the cause.

According to Solcon spokeswoman Lammertina Klein Obbink, about a hundred customers are affected by the malfunction. In total, the provider has 25,000 fiber customers. “The reason we speak of a national malfunction is because we cannot connect it to a specific region. At least we can rule out that the problem is on our side,” she says. The supplier has not yet been able to determine the cause of the packet loss on Friday, so that the malfunction cannot yet be resolved.

Update: Solcon, together with the supplier of the network equipment, applied a workaround on Sunday morning at 7:30 am to solve the problems for the customers.
