Microsoft studio Ninja Theory will use Unreal Engine 5 for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. With the images shown earlier, the studio already said that they were recorded in-engine. The game was announced last year, even before Unreal Engine 5 was presented.

Microsoft has put a long blog post online with details about the Xbox Series X. It contains no new information about the console, it is a summary of all the details and specifications that have already been disclosed. Microsoft now says that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will be made in Unreal Engine 5.

The game was announced at the end of last year and a trailer was also shown. The video contains no gameplay footage, but Microsoft says the cinematic trailer was shot in an engine. Epic announced Unreal Engine 5 in May and then showed a demonstration video, but no games yet. The engine will not be released until next year, first in a preview phase and the final version will follow later in 2021. From this it can be concluded that Hellblade II will not be released until next year at the earliest.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is being developed for Xbox consoles and is also coming to PCs. Developer Ninja Theory has been incorporated by Microsoft and the game will not appear for other consoles. The game is based on Norse mythology and Celtic culture. The first part is about a warrior who suffers from psychosis and takes on evil forces. Judging by the trailer, the new game seems to be building on that.
