Sennheiser seeks partner for consumer audio branch and is open for sale
Sennheiser wants to focus on the business market and is therefore looking for a partner for the consumer branch of the company. The owners do not rule out selling the entire consumer branch. Talks with potential partners will start soon.
The German company says it sees growth in all Sennheiser markets, including the consumer market. At the same time, presumably due to limited resources, the company wants to focus only on the three business branches Pro Audio, Business Communications and Neumann. That is why it is now looking for a ‘strong’ partner who wants to invest in the consumer branch.
Sennheiser mainly sees the headphone and soundbar market as markets in which the company can grow. The company sees a lot of potential, especially in the market for wireless headphones. Sennheiser therefore wants to increase its visibility in that market, in order to be able to see sustainable growth.
Against Handelsblatt, the two owners of Sennheiser indicate that they are also considering a possible sale of the consumer branch. “We’re going to approach everything openly, we’ll see who suits us best and then we’ll make a decision. It’s important to us that all industries emerge stronger from this realignment.”
Sennheiser now has 2800 employees, in 2019 the consumer branch accounted for 52 percent of Sennheiser’s turnover with 393 million euros. In the market for headphones, Sennheiser was in sixth place last year, Handelsblatt writes on the basis of a market researcher.
