Segway introduces GPS-based robotic lawnmower

Segway introduces its first robotic lawnmowers. Navimow robots navigate using sensors and GPS, and do not require physical beacons or wire to mark the mowing area. Prices start at 1199 euros.

Segway calls the navigation of the Navimow robots the Exact Fusion Location System. According to the product page, the robotic lawnmower has a GNSS system with four modules. A video shows that the base station also works with satellite navigation. The robot also has sensors on board to avoid obstacles, for example, or to switch itself off if an animal or person comes close.

The robotic lawnmower works in combination with an app. Users can thus set a virtual boundary area within which the Navimow can mow. The robot then chooses a route itself and returns to the base station independently to recharge. The device is waterproof with an IPX66 rating.

Segway is releasing four Navimow models: the H500E, H800E, H1500E and H3000E. The number in the name indicates in square meters for which surface a model is suitable. The prices are respectively 1199, 1499, 1999 and 2499 euros. The most expensive three versions have 4G, the cheapest does not. It is not yet known when the robotic lawn mowers will be on sale.
