Sega will release strategy game Humankind in April 2021
Sega will release Humankind in April 2021. The Civilization-esque strategy game also appears on Google Stadia, and that streaming service now has a free-to-play beta version for a week as a demo. Earlier, an early version was already available for download for the PC.
Humankind appears on Steam, in the Epic Games Store and at Google Stadia. The game will have a suggested retail price of 60 euros and can be temporarily pre-ordered for 51 euros. The game is made by Amplitude Studios, known for the Endless strategy games. Like those games, Humankind is a turn-based strategy game.
In Humankind, players have to set up their own civilization and that results according to the makers in ‘a humanity that is just as unique as yourself’. Players can combine up to sixty historical cultures to develop their civilization up to modern times. In-game combat takes place as a turn-based mini-board game on top of the world map.
Humankind was announced in 2019 and should have been released this year, but it was announced in June that the release was delayed to 2021. Now Sega says the game will be released in April. An exact date is not yet known.
A beta version of the game can be played as a demo on Google Stadia until October 28. Users need to create a Stadia account for this, but don’t need to specify a payment method. Amplitude Studios already released an OpenDev version of the game earlier this year. After registering, users could participate in tests and provide feedback to the developer.
