Sega will no longer release the kart racing game Team Sonic Racing this winter, but has postponed its release to May 21, 2019. Statements from the publisher indicate that additional time is needed to improve the quality.

Sega apologized in a statement to IGN for the delay until May 21, 2019. The delay is said to be necessary “to provide the highest quality.” Sega never mentioned an official release date, but when the announcement in June, winter was mentioned as the period in which the game should be released.

Team Sonic Racing is a game from Sega and Sumo Digital. Unlike its Sonic & All-Stars predecessors, the game revolves around Sonic and not other Sega franchises. Another difference is that the game requires teams of players to work together instead of competing and the characters are divided into three classes: speed, technique and strength.

Team Sonic Racing is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Windows.
