Sega Mega Drive Mini 2 will be released in Europe on October 27

SEGA has announced that the Mega Drive Mini 2 retro console will be released in Europe on October 27. The company also shared the contents of the entire game library. It contains 60 games including Earthworm Jim 2, Sonic The Hedgehog CD and Sonic 3D Blast.

The retro console was already announced in June for the American and Japanese markets. The company did not give any details about a European release at the time, but that has now changed.

Through a promotional video on Twitter we also get to see the game library that SEGA will ship with the Mega Drive Mini 2. It will contain 60 game titles: Super Hang-On, Truxton, Phantasy Star II, Herzog Zwei, After Burner II, Rainbow Island Extra, The Revenge of Shinobi , Hellfire, Granada, Populous, Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi, Gain Ground, Midnight Resistance, Shining in the Darkness, OutRun, Bonanza Bros., Rolling Thunder 2, Golden Ax II, Desert Strike: Return to the Gulf, Warsong, Atomic Runner, Splatterhouse 2, Night Trap, Sewer Shark, Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar, The Ninjawarriors, Elemental Master, Night Striker, Final Fight CD, Ecco the Dolphin, Robo Aleste, Ranger-X, Silpheed, Sonic The Hedgehog CD , ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, Mansion of Hidden Souls, Virtua Racing, Fatal Fury 2, Super Street Fighter II The New Challengers, Streets of Rage 3, OutRunners, Shining Force II, Ecco: The tides of Time, Viewpoint, ClayFighter , Ristar, Shining Force CD, Crusader of Centy, The Ooze, Alien Soldier, Earthworm Jim 2, Sonic 3D Blast, VectorMan 2, Fantasy Zone, Star Mobile, Spatter, Super Locomotive, Devi & Pii, VS Puyo Puyo Sun and Space Harrier II.

The retro console will according to VideoGameChronicle in Japan cost 9980 yen, which is converted about 71 euros. Pre-orders will start in September, according to that website. A SEGA spokesperson told to the editors of Polygon that the retro console will probably have limited availability for the European and North American markets, due to persistent chip shortages. It’s not the first time SEGA has released a retro console. In 2019, the Japanese publisher sold the Mega Drive Mini. This retro console came with 42 games.
