Sega is working on Virtua Fighter game aimed at esports
Sega announced ‘Virtua Fighter x esports Project’ at the Tokyo Game Show. According to the publisher, Virtual Fighter is being revived with an esports title. Details about that game have not yet been announced.
Sega showed a teaser video about the project during the event, but that does not clarify the new game. The project website also offers no further information. There, the publisher writes that the project is being set up in honor of the 60th anniversary of Sega.
The first Virtua Fighter game appeared in 1993. The last part is Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, which was released in arcade halls in 2010. That game was also released in 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. After that, no new parts appeared. Virtua Fighter 5 could then be played in virtual arcades in many games from the Yakuza series.
