Publisher SEGA has canceled the sci-fi shooter Hyenas. The game was supposed to be released later this year, but SEGA now says it is discontinuing the game to “improve the company’s efficiency.” In addition to Hyenas, several unannounced games have been canceled.

Partly due to high inflation, profits at the European branch of SEGA have decreased, causing the company wants to take measures now to improve efficiency and profitability. The company did not provide details on why it chose to ax Hyenas. This multiplayer sci-fi shooter was recently in closed beta and was yet to be released this year.

In addition to cutting games, SEGA talks about ‘reducing fixed expenses’, mainly at Creative Assembly. In return for IGN confirms Creative Assembly that a ‘dismissal consultation process’ has been started, which will first examine whether people can be assigned other tasks internally. Otherwise, there may be layoffs at the company. It is not clear how many people are involved.
