After rumors surfaced a week ago, publisher Sega has now officially announced that the PC game Total War: Rome II will be released in 2013. The game is only available for PC and is made by The Creative Assembly.

The announcement from publisher Sega shows that the Australian magazine PC PowerPlay was absolutely right. Developer The Creative Assembly is working on a new installment in its own Total War series. For the new part, the English studio goes back to one of the most successful parts of the series, Rome: Total War.

The studio has reversed the name; the new game will be released under the name Total War: Rome II. The studio did the same with the 2011 Total War: Shogun 2. The original game appeared in 2000 as Shogun: Total War.

Publisher and developer don’t reveal much about the new game. Like the previous installments in the series, it features a turn-based campaign that is combined with real-time battles. What also returns is the role of family and friends in the campaign. Whether the studio also adds new elements to the familiar gameplay is unknown. Total War: Rome II should be released in 2013.
