Sega Europe has acquired the French company Amplitude. The studio is the creator of the Endless series of strategy games. The company’s upcoming game in the series, Endless Space 2, will be published by Sega.

Amplitude Studios is a Paris-based game maker founded in 2011 by former Ubisoft employees that focuses on creating strategy games for the PC. The company uses its own platform to give players influence in development at an early stage via Steam Early Access: Games2Gether.

Amplitude came to prominence with the Endless series, including Endless Space from 2012, Endless Legends from 2014 and Dungeon of the Endless from 2014. Endless Space 2 is planned for this year. “The Endless series deserves to be in Sega Europe’s stable alongside PC franchises like Total War and Dawn of War,” said Amplitude co-founder Mathieu Girard.

The acquisition strengthens Sega’s position as a publisher of strategy games for the PC. The company that made it big with consoles and franchises like Sonic already owns Creative Assembly and Relic Entertainment.
