Seagate will stop accessing NAS systems via Access and Sdrive in May
Seagate will stop supporting Seagate Access for NAS systems on May 15. Users will no longer be able to use Seagate Access for Sdrive, the Media app, and MyNAS software. Data on the disks will still be available via ftp or via OS implementations.
Seagate warns against stopping in an email to users. It applies to users with a Seagate Access account that allowed remote access to the NAS systems via a web interface.
Specifically, the Seagate Access service, Seagate Access via Seagate Sdrive, Seagate Access via the Seagate Media app, and Seagate MyNAS will no longer be available after May 15, 2021,” the company wrote. Support for the Access service will also stop.
It is still possible to access files on hard disks via ftp or sftp. The possibility also remains to integrate a NAS in Windows or macOS, by showing them in the explorers via smb. Seagate provides no reason for discontinuing Access.
