Seagate Announces External 7mm HDD With 750GB Capacity
Seagate has announced a new hard drive in its Seven series of thin external storage media. The disk with a thickness of 7 millimeters has a storage capacity of 750GB and is equipped with a USB 3.0 connection.
The Seven series of drives is primarily intended as external storage for laptop users and until now only a 500GB version was available. Seagate now also comes with a 750GB version, although it seems to be only available in the US for the time being. The drives are cast in a metal housing and equipped with a USB 3.0 interface.
The price of the 750GB drive is not yet known. The 500GB version is available in the Pricewatch for 109 euros. Hard drives with a thickness of 7mm and a single platter have been used for years for ultrabooks, among other things, and there are already hybrid drives with this thickness. The drives are increasingly faced with competition from SSDs, which are becoming cheaper and cheaper.
