Screenshots show that Huawei’s HarmonyOS is similar to Android release EMUI
The first screenshots of Huawei’s HarmonyOS 2.0 beta for smartphones shows that the system is very similar to Huawei’s own Android release EMUI 11. The beta is for a group of Chinese developers to try.
The beta came online on Wednesday, says a Huawei executive. Screenshots can be seen in the topic on Huawei’s developer site. This shows that the software in terms of icon styles and menus is very similar to EMUI 11. Other interface elements also correspond, such as the structure of the home screen.
Huawei has released the beta with the emulator in the run-up to a release for phones, after which new models are likely to be released that have HarmonyOS on board as standard. Huawei announced HarmonyOS 2.0 in September.
The Chinese manufacturer presented HarmonyOS a few months after the US government put the company on the entity list, which means that US companies are no longer allowed to trade with Huawei. As a result, Google services are no longer allowed on Huawei smartphones. As a replacement, Huawei has made HMS. Developers can modify apps to work with them.
