Screenshots show running Android apps on Windows 11 through the Android operating system subsystem. The screenshots appeared on a Chinese forum and include WeChat’s Android app in Windows 11.

The images show how two versions of the WeChat app for Android run on Windows 11. The taskbar preview shows these two versions in a single window, which can make multitasking with multiple instances of an Android app easier. There is also a screenshot of a Chinese social media app. The Android apps run in windows with the rounded corners, as usual with Windows 11.

The screenshots appeared according to Windows Latest on the Chinese site Bilibili, but the images seem to have been removed there. If the images are authentic, it means that Microsoft is actively testing the Android subsystem for Windows 11.

Microsoft announced with the announcement of Windows 11 that it will be possible to run Android apps within Windows. For this, Microsoft is working together with Amazon: the apps are available through the integration of Amazon Appstore in the Microsoft Store. This option was not available at the time of Windows 11 release. According to Microsoft, it will take until early 2022 before users can run Android apps within Windows 11.
