Satya Nadella now also chairman of the Microsoft board of directors
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has been unanimously elected chairman of Microsoft’s board of directors. The company announced this in a press release. This makes the man the first CEO since Bill Gates to serve as both CEO and chairman at Microsoft.
The press release states that Nadella will prepare the agenda for future board meetings, identify the right strategic opportunities and help determine risk strategies.
Satya Nadella has worked for Microsoft since 1992, which was then led by co-founder Bill Gates. Gates resigned as CEO of the company in January 2000 but remained on the board of directors until 2020. Satya Nadella was appointed CEO in 2014 after Steve Ballmer announced his resignation in 2013. Nadella was then president of Microsoft’s Server and Tools division and had successfully launched the Azure cloud service.
