SanDisk has refreshed its Optimus Max SSDs for the enterprise market and announced a solid state drive with a SAS interface that offers a maximum storage capacity of 4TB.

The Optimus Max currently offers the most storage capacity on an SSD in the market with the 4TB SSD, which is mainly intended for read actions, according to SanDisk. With its 6Gbit/s sas interface, which stands for serial attached scsi, the Optimus Max is mainly aimed at the server market. SanDisk uses 19nm emlc flash chips from Toshiba for its flash storage. In sequential read and write operations, the SSD would achieve read speeds of 400MB/s, while the write speeds would also be 400MB/s. The iops would be 75,000 and 15,000 iops for random reads and writes.

SanDisk also announced the Lightning Generation II series for the enterprise market. These SSDs have a 12Gbit/s SAS interface and are available in three variants: Ultra, Ascend and Eco. The Ultra SSD has a lifespan specified for 25 diskfull writes per day (dwpd), while the Ascend has a dwpd value of 10. Finally, the Eco model comes out at 3 dwpd, according to SanDisk. The drives are available with storage capacities up to 1.6TB in the Ascend and Eco line and up to 800GB in the Ultra version.
