SanDisk announces its first 1.5TB microSD card
SanDisk announces several compact SanDisk storage media, including its first 1.5TB microSD card. The company is also unveiling new 1TB variants of the USB stick, which can be connected to both USB-A and USB-C ports.
The SanDisk 1.5TB Ultra microSD UHS-I card has the brand’s highest storage capacity yet, and parent company Western Digital calls it the fastest UHS-I card in the world with a transfer speed of up to 150MB/s. However, this only works in combination with a SanDisk MobileMate USB 3.0 microSD card reader. With regular use of the card, UHS-I speeds of up to 104MB/s are possible. The microSD card is now available for 174 euros and has a standard ten-year warranty. Apart from some very expensive 2TB versions, there are few memory manufacturers that offer microSD cards with more than 1TB of storage space.
In addition, the brand announces new variants of the two comparable USB sticks under the names Ultra Dual Drive Luxe and Ultra Dual Drive Go. The Luxury version was so far only available in silver color and will be released in gold color this winter. This is a 1TB stick with support for USB 3.2 Gen 1 and both USB-A and USB-C. The silver 1TB variant costs 150 euros, which is probably also the price of the gold version. In the existing Ultra Dual Drive Go series, WD will soon release a 1TB variant in black. So far there were only versions of the hybrid USB stick up to 512GB of storage space. No price has yet been announced for the 1TB version. In all cases, the brand promises a read speed of up to 400MB/s.
