SanDisk announces 512GB SD card

Memory manufacturer SanDisk has announced the Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I card with a storage capacity of 512GB. The card with a write speed of up to 90MB/s has a suggested retail price of 800 dollars, converted 618 euros.

According to the manufacturer, it is the first SD card with such a high storage capacity. The reading speed of the card is up to 95MB/s and the writing speed is up to 90MB/s. The PRO SDXC UHS-I card also has the Speed ​​Class 3 designation, which means that 4k images can be written without stuttering at a minimum throughput speed of 30MB/s.

SanDisk is targeting media professionals who work with large video files and high resolutions with the card. The company says it has subjected the SD card to harsh conditions during testing and can guarantee that they are temperature, water, shock and X-ray resistant.

The card is not only available in 512GB version, but also in variants with capacities of 128GB and 256GB. The prices of those models are unknown and so are the euro prices.
