SanDisk acquires storage manufacturer Fusion-io

SanDisk acquires storage manufacturer Fusion-io for an amount of 1.1 billion dollars, converted more than 800 million euros. Both companies announced this on Monday. The acquisition should be completed in the third quarter of Sandisk’s fiscal year.

In a statement, CEO Sanjay Mehrota said the acquisition will help SanDisk better help companies manage massive data workloads. Fusion-io also makes flash storage, but mainly focuses on its use in data centers.

SanDisk is putting $1.1 billion on the table for the acquisition and expects the acquisition to be completed in the third quarter of the fiscal year. The first concrete consequences of the acquisition would be noticeable by the middle of next year, the statement concludes.
